Angie Holden - Salmon Patties

 

I took a standard salmon patty recipe and added my spin for a fresh take. I always find that salmon patties are bland and too dry for my taste. My secret ingredient fixes this problem and makes these the best salmon patties you have ever put in your mouth. The secret? Tartar sauce in the mix. Adding this condiment to your patty mix will make these salmon patties melt in your mouth.

 

 

Salmon Patties
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Serves 3

Ingredients
5 oz package of pink salmon (the pouch variety is already deboned and drained)
1 egg
1/3 cup tartar sauce
1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon chopped green onion
Dash of hot sauce
Salt and pepper
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. Heat a Calphalon non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Mix pink salmon, egg, tartar sauce and breadcrumbs in a bowl. Add chopped green onion, dash of hot sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well (mix will be moist and sticky).
  2. Add about 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil to pan and distribute evenly. Make your mixture into three good sized patties and place in skillet. Fry on each side about 1½ to 2 minutes until both sides are brown. Serve with chopped green onion tops as garnish if desired.
  3. I love to pair my salmon patties with peas and carrots for some color. Between the two, you have one balanced meal your family will love. Even the pickiest eater will love this new take on an old classic. These are super simple for a weeknight meal. Plus, there is no more begging them to eat fish with this recipe. These are super moist and will melt in your mouth. I hope you enjoy this take on salmon patties. Grab your tartar sauce and get cooking!
